This text is drawn from Arte astratta: Posizione teorica, 10 poemi, 4 composizioni (Rome: P. Maglione & G. Strini, 1920), an early and foundational work by Julius Evola (1898–1974), written at the height of his engagement with the European avant-garde, before his turn to an aristocratic mystical reactionary.

The English title is newly supplied from a section title within the text and does not reproduce the original Italian title. Composed in the same intellectual atmosphere that saw the convergence of post-Nietzschean individualism and movements such as Futurism and Dada, the work is deeply marked by the influence of Max Stirner—particularly the concept of the Einzige (rendered here as “Unique One”)—an influence that also circulated among Dada figures including Tristan Tzara.

This 2026 booklet edition, prepared by the Union of Egoists for the Stand Alone journal project, presents a new original English translation of the theoretical essay, omitting the accompanying poems and visual compositions from the original volume.
