A Defiant Tour Through Western Thought

This is not your typical history of philosophy.

Dictated in 1972 by Italian egoist and self-proclaimed Antichrist Enzo Martucci, History of Philosophy: From Thales to Stirner offers a bracing, unconventional retelling of Western thought—from the earliest Greek thinkers to the radical individualism of Max Stirner. At once insigntful and provocative, the work was transcribed and organized by Gianluigi Bellei, who preserves Martucci’s voice in all its irreverent force.

Rather than a neutral overview, Martucci delivers sharp, personal judgments on every figure he surveys. Philosophers are not venerated but interrogated—measured against the values of egoism, personal sovereignty, and resistance to authority. The journey culminates, naturally, in Stirner, whom Martucci treats as the liberating climax of philosophy’s long arc.

From the Translator of Banner of the Antichrist and The Red Sect

This booklet is part of a larger project to bring Martucci’s writings into English for the first time. Readers of The Red Sect and Banner of the Antichrist will find the same uncompromising spirit here—direct, heretical, and darkly humorous.
