Anton Szandor LaVey–Attributed Leather Captain’s Hat

A distinctive piece of Anton Szandor LaVey memorabilia: a black leather captain’s-style hat manufactured by Henschel of St. Louis, Missouri, size Small.

The hat is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity issued by the late Stanton LaVey, grandson of Anton Szandor LaVey, identifying it as having been owned by his grandfather.

It will also include a signed Letter of Provenance and Attestation from Magister Kevin I. Slaughter, proprietor of Underworld Amusements, documenting the hat’s subsequent chain of custody.

In February 2023, Slaughter acquired the hat as part of a larger collection from a member of the Church of Satan whose identity will remain confidential. The previous owner had purchased the hat directly from Stanton LaVey. Documentation supporting that original transaction was presented to Slaughter at the time of acquisition.

The other objects from the collection have since been sold. This hat remained in Slaughter’s possession and has been displayed for approximately three years as a prominent objet d’art in the office of Underworld Amusements.
